The Guild Fellowship Program

The Guild Theater, a local arts nonprofit, asked my team of four and I to boost audience engagement and cement the arts arts nonprofit as a pillar of the community. After two months of user research, prototyping, and user testing, we proposed the Guild Fellowship Program. We designed the full program and connected our first proposed fellows with the Guild to get involved.

We started by spending a day at the venue, exploring the space and interviewing staff.

We continued on to interview local artists, talking to everyone from orchestra members, to theater troops, to independent musicians. We wanted to understand the stakeholders of the performance world.

After hours of interviews, we started brainstorming ways to increase engagement.

We made prototypes, asked our users what they thought, and went iterated our designs. Then did that again. And again.

We envisioned a program for artists to form long term relationships with the nonprofit theater.
Artists have the opportunity to open, perform in fellow-only showcases, and engage with the entertainment industry.
The Guild benefits from a consistent stream of openers, assistance running shows, and community gratification.

Cementing the Guild as a pillar of the community requires more than just providing a venue, it requires uplifting the local community, and that's exactly what our program does.
